Lovers of Japanese art and its influences on Western art will greatly enjoy this fascinating lecture by a leading expert. It will be the final one in our 2018/19 season of world class lectures.
Rimpa art flourished in Kyoto, during the 17th century peaceful period in Japanese history. Artists were inspired by courtly literary themes from the past. This lecture analyses the masterpieces of the period and discusses what makes them ‘Japanese’.
