Our first informal get-together of 2019 will be on Monday, 21 January,
at the Plough, Belsize, at 8pm, when John Knight will lead a
discussion on the current state of university education.
Do students owe a debt of gratitude or too great a debt? Should the
system be reformed to ease the financial burden on students – whilst
providing first-rate higher education? Does the present method of
funding, driven by market forces, lead to a lessening of academic
rigour? Has higher education fallen into craven disrepute?
Everyone is welcome to come along and consider how the world of
academe should be put to rights.
