Big Smiles as Children Return to School

This week has seen our little school take its first steps towards normality with the phased return of Year 1 and Year 6. I am very pleased to say that this has been a huge success! It has been so lovely to see beaming smiles on the faces of the children as they come into school – exactly how it should be.

A significant amount of planning and preparation was needed to get everything up and running safely and smoothly – measuring classrooms, staggering arrivals and departures, grouping children in ‘Bubbles’ of no more than twelve and additional cleaning measure to name a few.

You can find out more about our school reopening by accessing our interactive newsletter with videos and presentations to explain all of our changes: https://sites.google.com/sarratt.org.uk/school-reopening/home

Next week we will be welcoming back our youngest children in Reception Class in their own little bubble of nine. The Early Years environment has been adapted ready for their return.

We are really looking forward to a time when we can safely accommodate all of the children back to school. Until then, we are well placed to cater for our home learners as a result of our progress in digital technology over the past two years.

All of the steps we have taken over this time have been really well received by the parent community. Communication is something I have worked hard to improve over my time here and it has been unbelievably rewarding to read the feedback we have had from our fabulous mums and dads.

Blown away (in a good way!) by the level of detail outlined in this document and everything you’ve thought through – amazing.

To think that two years ago the main criticism of the school during your feedback sessions was the communication to children and parents, it honestly couldn’t be better now.

Your information and communication had been exemplary. We feel so reassured about every decision and planning idea.

The safety of our children, staff, families and community has been at the heart of every planning decision we have made here. We have also made sure that the plans do not put our lovely village under any added risk. Staggering the school timings has meant that there are few families and vehicles at any one time. We have also sent out reminders to all of our families to vacate the immediate vicinity of the school as soon as they have left the site. This has been respected by all of our families.

We will keep you all updated with how things progress here over the next couple of months as more changes come. In the meantime, if you have any questions for us here, please send them to us at  : [email protected]

Take care and stay safe,
