No Mow May
Sustainable Sarratt : No Mow May in Sarratt
We are coordinating an effort to increase biodiversity in Sarratt, the more people who join in the better. It’s very easy to take part.
The NoMowMay campaign is national and aims to reverse the loss of wild flower grasslands which provide vital food for our wildlife and pollinators. Since the 1930’s, we have lost 97% of meadows and pastures in the UK and the decline of our insect population is dramatic. Further details of the campaign are on www.plantlife.org.uk. We can all help by allowing part of our own garden grow naturally in May and the early summer, longer if possible. Even a very small patch will make a difference, or consider planting some wildflower seeds in pots. You may only notice some daisies or dandelions but these are valuable nectar sources for bees, hoverflies and other pollinators.
If you would like to share what grows in your patch, send a photo to – [email protected]
We will collate the photos and hope to make a display for the village later in the year to show the results.
