The next informal get-together for Pints of View will be at The Plough, in the courtyard marquee, on
Monday, 20th September at 8:00 pm.
The difficulties of those fleeing from Afghanistan, has brought the plight of refugees to our attention in recent weeks, as has the arrival of more ‘boat people’ on our shores. As a result, our topic for discussion will be “Refugees – Who should help?”.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, states “Refugees are people who have fled war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country”.
“In 2020, there were 34 million refugees living outside their country of origin, accounting for 12 per cent of all international migrants… 80 per cent of refugees live in low- and middle-income countries.”

The Amnesty International website gives the definitions of Refugee, Asylum Seeker and Migrant.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday evening
