SPRING SHOW 2025  – REVIEW

SATURDAY5TH APRIL

After a long and cold winter, the sun shone for Sarratt Horticultural Society’s Spring Show on the 5th April.  Some complained that their flowers were finished and others said it was too early.  But there was a very good turnout with over 300 daffodils on display as well as many other flowers, produce, crafts and cookery.

The best daffodil was displayed by Roger Dudley and the overall daffodil winner was Steven Booth.  The ‘Other Flower’ section was won by Ginny McNamara with the ‘Best Bloom’ being one of Simon Hammett’s magnificent tulips. The trophy for garden produce/eggs was shared by Kate Soothill and Simon Hammett. For those with an artistic flair, the floral art classes were well supported and Sarah Altman received the trophy.

Whilst many visitors enjoyed the tea/coffee/cakes in the afternoon, the more competitive folks in Sarratt had been vying for the cookery trophy.  This was won by Julie Mansi.  There was also some beautifully crafted items in the Arts and Crafts section with Leigh Martins and Philip Beausire being the joint winners.  Eleanor Ross was winner of the children’s classes and as she also entered the main classes was joint winner of the Merle Liddy Novice Plate with Charlotte Ross.

After all the points were totted up, the overall winner was Steven Booth.  But the real winners were the people of Sarratt who had a nice afternoon chatting to their neighbours in a brilliantly decorated Village Hall.
